The driver’s side mirror of a Volvo sedan was smashed on Halloween sometime between 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. while it was parked outside of a home in the 3400 block of 77th Avenue S.E.

A Volvo sedan with two laptop computers, a digital camera, golf clubs set and briefcase inside was stolen the night of Halloween while parked in a garage in the 7000 block of S.E. 32nd Street. According to the incident report, the 50-year-old victim said that a set of keys was missing from his home, and several contractors had been there during the past month.

A 58-year-old Kirkland man driving a minivan was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol around 5 a.m. on Nov. 1 while heading westbound on I-90. According to the incident report, he declined the breath test and was later released to a friend.

A 43-year-old Islander was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, with a suspended license, after police stopped him for a traffic violation around 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 1. in the 8000 block of S.E. 27th Street. According to the incident report, the man also had illegally bypassed an interlocking ignition device designed to prevent him from driving drunk.

A 28-year-old man from Normandy Park was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him for speeding just after midnight on Nov. 1 in the 7600 block of North Mercer Way.

Police arrested a 16-year-old Oregon fugitive on Halloween for driving a stolen vehicle with stolen license plates around 10:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of S.E. 28th Street. According to the incident report, the teen had a warrant out for his arrest regarding a past burglary and he was reported as a runaway.

A 79-year-old Islander attempting to parallel park hit another car and broke the driver’s side mirror around 7:30 p.m. on Halloween in the 4000 block of 92nd Avenue S.E.

A 16-year-old Islander backed her minivan into a parked Mustang around 7:15 p.m. on Halloween while she was in the parking lot of the Mercer Island condos near North Mercer Way and 81st Avenue S.E.

Arrests

A 26-year-old man from Monroe was arrested for an outstanding warrant after police stopped him for speeding in a school zone at 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 6 in the 5400 block of Island Crest Way.

A 63-year-old Seattle man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and an outstanding DUI warrant after police stopped him for a traffic infraction at 7:40 p.m., Nov. 5, in the 8400 block of S.E. 40th Street.

A 23-year-old Seattle woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license and having a warrant in her maiden name after police stopped her while going westbound on I-90. According to the incident report, a records check with the Department of Licensing showed that the car’s tabs had expired in February of 2002. The driver had no license or identification, and the car had tabs from another vehicle on the license plate.

Hit-and-run

A hit-and-run occurred at noon on Nov. 4 in the intersection of S.E. 27th Street and 78th Avenue. According to the incident report, a 70-year-old Islander was stopped at the intersection behind another car when she was rear-ended. The driver hit her, then drove around the car through the intersection and out of sight. The victim was only able to get a part of the license plate and said that the four-door sedan was dark blue.

Marijuana

Four Island teenagers were arrested for smoking marijuana at Park on the Lid after police contacted them for being in the park while it was closed around 1 a.m. on Nov. 4. According to the police report, three boys and one girl were taken to the police station and later released to a parent or guardian. In their search of the teens, police found less than one gram of marijuana, rolling papers, a bag with scissors, small bags decorated with a Batman logo and a larger bag with marijuana residue.

Thefts

An iPod was stolen from a 15-year-old student’s backpack while it was in the high school girls’ locker room, unsecured, sometime between 3 and 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 28.

Police confiscated a stolen credit card after stopping a 34-year-old man from Edmonds for driving with a broken taillight around 1 a.m. on Nov. 3 in the 4700 block of 86th Avenue S.E. According to the incident report, the man was active with the Department of Corrections and consented to a search. Police found the stolen credit card in his wallet.

A wallet and MP3 player were stolen from a 17-year-old Islander’s bag while it was stored in the high school gym’s locker room during fifth period between 3 and 4 p.m. on Oct. 30.

DUI

A 62-year-old Islander driving an SUV that rolled over around 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 3 while driving in the 5300 block of West Mercer Way was arrested for DUI. A photo was printed in the Reporter on Nov. 5. According to the incident report, the man was uninjured in the accident but fire personnel smelled alcohol on his breath while looking him over for possible back injuries. A breath test was issued on the scene, and police placed the Islander under arrest.
