Mercer Island Police are still looking into an attempted armed robbery, which took place at Island Salon and Spa on Friday, Oct. 22.

According to the police report, a man entered the salon, located at 7810 S.E. 30th Street, with a semi-automatic pistol in his waistband, demanding money. The two women in the salon, a 24-year-old Mercer Island and a 57-year-old Kirkland woman, refused and the suspect fled.

Leslie Burns, with the Mercer Island Police Department, said the department has nothing new two weeks later. A K9 track on Oct. 22 revealed nothing, but fingerprints from the door were taken into evidence.

“It’s such an odd place to have an armed robbery,” said Burns. “We’re definitely still working on it and looking for a suspect.”

Burns said it could take up to a month to get information on the fingerprints back from the lab.
