Mercer Island launched a timebank last May and this summer will host two follow-up meetings for interested residents to learn more about the program.

Timbanking is a system in which people exchange services without using money.

For every hour a resident in the program spends doing a task for someone else, they earn a credit, which can be exchanged for someone else doing something for you.

Residents who are interested in joining the program are encouraged to come to one of two meetings, held at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31 or Wednesday, Aug. 28.

The Mercer Island Timebank is part of the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services and is a member of the Puget Sound Timebank.
