The Mercer Island girls swim and dive team won the KingCo championship meet crown on Saturday night, beating the second closest team by over 200 points.

Mercer Island earned the title with a final score of 743.5.  Newport finished in second place with 541 points. The closest 3A team after Mercer Island was Juanita with 257 points for sixth place.

The meet began with the 200 medley relay, which the Islanders won in 1:51.78 with the team of Cailtin Cox, Danielle Deiparine, Sabrina Kwan and Alex Seidel.

Grace Wold earned her first individual win of the post season in the 200 freestyle race, finishing with a state qualifying time of 1:57.27. Emily Olsen finished in eighth place, while Leah Fisk was 10^th and Leann Tse was 15^th overall. Wold earned her second KingCo meet title in the 100 backstroke event, winning in 57.44, a 4A state qualifying time. Deiparine was fourth overall, Seidel was fifth and Fisk was seventh.

Cox finished third overall in the 200 individual medley race, with a time of 2:13.48, followed by Kwan in seventh place, Lindsay White in 14^th and Masami Cookson in 18^th place.

In the 50 freestyle event Kristin Hoffman had the top Islander finish, taking ninth place in 26.61. Christina Williamson finished in 10^th overall with a 26.48 time.

Meg Lindsay finished second overall in the diving competition, earning 393.70 points. Olivia Cero was 16^th overall and Hadley Michaels tied for 20^th place with Addie Thompson of Bothell High School. Sohpia Cero was 39^th overall with 104.15 points.

In the 100 butterfly event, Seidel was fourth in 1:01.16, while Deiparine finished in sixth place with a time of 1:02.02. Maddie Larkin finished 14^th and Emily Koksu was 20^th.

Kwan finished in third overall in the 100 freestyle race, earning a state qualifying time of 55.76. Teammate Hoffman was fourth in 56.27, while Cookson was 10^th and Williamson was 12^th.

Mercer Island junior Cox was second in the 500 freestyle event, finishing in 5:19.85. Olsen finished in fourth place in 5:23.39, while Larkin was 10^th and Julie Baker was 19^th.

Mercer Island was second to Newport in the 200 freestyle event with the team of Seidel, Wold, Margaret Seaton and Williamson. They raced to a 1:43.10 finish.

Mercer Island sophomore Natalie Marques was 10^th overall in the 100 breast stroke race, the top Islander finisher in 1:12.53. Sofija Raisys finished in 11^th place and senior Kira Godfred was 12^th overall. Michelle Na was 13^th in 1:14.15.

Mercer Island’s Wold, Fisk, Deiparine and Kwan teamed up to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:39.81 in the final event of the meet.

The Islanders will compete in the SeaKing District meet which begins with the preliminary races on Friday, Nov. 2 followed by the finals on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Mary Wayte Pool. The finals on Saturday begin at 5:30 p.m.
