The Mercer Island Food Revolution invites families to take a night off from cooking and attend a delicious community dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church.

The featured chef is Mercer Island’s own Kurt Dammeier, owner of Bennett’s and Beecher’s Handmade Cheese. Dammeier will be preparing a full-course, delicious, nutritious family meal celebrating the fall harvest.

The menu features: citrus-marinated grilled chicken; Beecher’s World’s Best Mac and Cheese; local roasted fall vegetables, including freshly prepared broccolini; and a fresh kale romaine Caesar salad.

“We are thrilled to support the Mercer Island Food Revolution,” Dammeier said. “Being both a Mercer Island parent and a chef, I fully support their efforts to promote healthy eating and nutrition.”

Dinner will be topped off with a delicious treat from Rusty’s Famous (all natural) Cheesecake. The event will also include live music, children’s activities, and educational information.

Tickets are $10 per individual, $25 per family, and $5 for seniors. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.mifoodrevolution.org. Purchase early — the limit is 300 Islanders, and the event is anticipated to sell out.

A few lucky advance ticket buyers will be awarded door prizes from YogaBliss, Lisa Porad Acupuncture and Beecher’s “Cheese Maker for a Day.”

The community dinner’s major sponsor is Mercer Island Pediatrics. In-kind sponsors include: Music by Sophie Feldman, Rusty’s Famous Cheesecake, Lisa Porad Acupuncture, YogaBliss and Island Books.
