MIHS seniors named Rotary Islanders of the Month

Mercer Island High School seniors Gabby Frederick, Saira Ghodke, Cooper Jensen and Gianna Tubach have been selected as Rotary Islanders of the Month for November and December.

According to teachers who nominated the students:

Frederick “is being recognized for the Student of the Month award for the leadership and thoughtful guidance she has shown during a challenging period for our school. Throughout the recent news that has affected our community, she has courageously stood up for the voices of her peers, encouraged open respectful discussions and helped maintain a supportive environment.”

Ghodke receives the award “in recognition of her exceptional leadership, service and academic dedication. As a standout leader in the media technology and filmmaking class, Saira has consistently demonstrated creativity, initiative and a collaborative spirit that elevates every project she touches.”

Jensen “is truly one of the finest students I have had the privilege to teach — his leadership is steady, genuine and deeply rooted in integrity. As one of the student store’s first Employees of the Month and our designated person in charge, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional reliability and work ethic.”

Tubach “is an exceptional student whose leadership shines through her creativity, resilience and deeply empathetic nature. Since her sophomore year, she has been a cornerstone of our business and marketing program, consistently elevating the quality of work produced in international entrepreneurship and beyond.”
