UPDATE: A lost Chihuahua, found by the MIPD near Homestead Park, was reunited with his owner this afternoon, Oct. 31. The owner is employed on the Island and saw the online news story about his lost dog. The dog’s name is “Topo,” which means “mole” in Spanish.

Mercer Island police found a small, tan male Chihuahua puppy near Homestead Park on Tuesday, Oct. 30. He does not have a collar and is not microchipped, but is in great condition.

A MIPD staff member took the dog home overnight and the MIPD has the dog during the day.

“We do not want to send him to Animal Control, so are trying to keep him with us until we can find his family,” Commander Leslie Burns said. “He is super friendly, very pretty and a good little guy, so I am sure someone is missing him greatly.”
