Municipal court offering ‘debt reduction program’ / Briefs

Throughout May, the Mercer Island Municipal Court is offering a “debt reduction program” to help people regain their driving licenses and reduce debt owed. If outstanding tickets and other fines are paid during the month of May, all interest and collection fees will be waived.

SUMMER CELEBRATION

Windermere Real Estate Mercer Island, Recology and the Mercer Island Community Fund have signed on as the first sponsors for the upcoming Summer Celebration event.

The event will return on July 9 with activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mercerdale Park, and from 6-10:45 p.m. at Luther Burbank Park.

Focused on reuniting the community, the event will feature elements of musical and family entertainment, food vendors, festivities and a fireworks show.

MOSTLY MUSIC IN THE PARK

The tunes will be flowing as Mostly Music in the Park returns to action from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursdays starting July 14 in Mercerdale Park.

SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

Seattle Shakespeare will present Shakespeare in the Park in July and August at the Luther Burbank Park Amphitheatre. All performances will be from 7-9 p.m. unless noted.

“Cymbeline”: July 7, 8, 15, 16, 21, 24 (2-4 p.m.), 30 and Aug. 4.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”: July 10, 14, 17, 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and Aug. 5, 6 and 7.
