New Seasons is looking for more than 100 knowledgeable, friendly people to join the team at Mercer Island’s new grocery store, opening this fall at 2755 77th Ave. SE.

Job seekers who are passionate about food and want to be involved with creating a community gathering place can apply in-person at the grocer’s first Puget Sound Job Fair, to be held from 3-8 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center.

New Seasons senior staff will be on hand to accept applications for more than 100 positions; meeting and recruiting staff from the surrounding area; and sharing more about store departments including produce, meat and seafood, bakery, cheese and deli. Attendees do not have to preregister, and can submit applications onsite or online prior to the event.

Previous New Seasons job fairs have drawn more than 1,000 applicants attracted by the company’s robust compensation and benefits program, according to a press release.

New Seasons offers lifestyle scheduling with flexible and predictable work schedules, a 20 percent store discount, profit sharing, paid volunteer hours, ongoing training and a “speak up” culture of staff empowerment and engagement.

New Seasons is also actively welcoming recruits from FareStart, the Seattle-based program that connects people with barriers to employment to good jobs in the food industry.

The world’s first certified B Corp grocery store using the power of business for good, New Seasons started with a single store in Portland. New Seasons has 19 neighborhood stores in Washington, Oregon and California, as well as five New Leaf Community Market locations in Northern California, and commits 10 percent of its after-tax profits back to the communities it serves.
