New superintendent Rundle will discuss school district at Aug. 16 Rotary meeting

Dr. Fred Rundle will discuss his new role as the Mercer Island School District’s superintendent at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s in-person meeting on Aug. 16 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St. The meeting will take place from 12:30-1:30 p.m. with a social hour prior.

Rundle, who began his new role on July 1, will become the local Rotary’s newest member when he is inducted at the luncheon. Rundle was hired as the principal of Lakeridge Elementary School, a post he held for four years. He then served as director of learning services for the district from 2013-2015, at which point he was promoted to assistant superintendent. He was named deputy superintendent in July 2021.

A local, fresh lunch menu is available to attendees from a Mercer Island restaurant with advance ordering. Guests can enjoy their first lunch “on us.” People interested in attending the Aug. 16 meeting as a guest and would like a lunch can contact Rotary at RCMercerIsland123@gmail.com so they can make the order.
