Renn Novak will discuss “Peace and Power Through Poetry” at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on Aug. 1 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St. The main meeting begins at 12:30 pm. Guests are always welcome.

Novak is a part of the Mercer Island High School graduating class of 2023 and was a student staff member of the high school’s radio station, along with being the varsity captain and goalie of the Mercer Island lacrosse team. Novak also found a place cultivating an environment of self-exploration and collaboration through founding the high school’s poetry club. With a personal insight into the mental health challenges of being a youth in the LGBTQ+ community, Novak hopes to continue to inspire others to connect with their identities and learn how to better support those they love.
