Noted scholar and environmentalist David W. Orr will lead a community climate action discussion from 7-8:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Congregational Church on Mercer Island, 4545 Island Crest Way.

At the Conversations of Consequence presentation, Orr will delve into “Democracy in a Hotter Time,” a vital collection of essays that he edited. The book “calls for reforming democratic institutions as a prerequisite for avoiding climate chaos and adapting governance to how Earth works as a physical system,” according to a press release.
