Someone kicked the front door in at a home in the 1800 block of West Mercer Way on the morning of Oct. 13. Police responded to a residential alarm call at about 10:30 a.m. The discovered the top drawer of a high boy-style dresser missing from the master bedroom of the residence. Police believe that to be the only item missing from the home.
Mercer Island High School was one of seven Washington schools that were nominated recently for federal Blue Ribbon Schools awards. It was selected by the state Office of the Superintendent, which nominates a handful of schools each year based on dramatic improvement or high achievement.
A Fall Harvest Happening sponsored by the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Foundation to benefit the food bank at MIYFS will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Mercer Island Congregational Church at 4545 Island Crest Way. Live music will be provided by the Mercer Island Garagenics and food will be provided by the French Market of Mercer Island.
