PEPS launching newborn group on Mercer Island in September

PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support) will be launching a group for parents of newborns 2-20 months on Mercer Island this September.

Newborn group gatherings will take place at 10 a.m. Mondays starting Sept. 8 in the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church Fireside Room, 3605 84th Ave. SE. The small facilitated parent group — led by trained community leaders — will meet for two hours a week for 12 weeks.

There will be weekly conversations about real parenting challenges and joys in a judgment-free space to ask questions and share experiences. Flexible pricing and financial assistance are offered for the group, and fees directly help PEPS provide resources to thousands of families each year.

According to a PEPS flier, “Connection isn’t extra, it’s essential: PEPS peer-support groups bring parents together when you need it most. Share experiences, build friendships and navigate parenting challenges together in a supportive community.”

PEPS is a Seattle nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1983.
