Tent City harassment

A car occupied by four individuals, shouting comments and throwing trash out the window, was seen driving by Tent City around 2 a.m. on Aug. 16.

A 70-year-old Island resident shared a conversation she had with a friend after a City Council meeting earlier this month, telling police her 71-year-old friend from the 2500 block of 71st Avenue S.E. said she would meet people from Tent City with a gun if they came down her street.

Some tents were soaked by water balloons thrown into Tent City by two youths who were seen running into an SUV that sped away quickly around midnight on Aug. 12.

Arrests

A 20-year-old Island resident was arrested for possession of marijuana in the 4600 block of 91st Avenue S.E. around 2:20 a.m. on Aug. 18 after police received a call that men were carrying rifles in the area. According to the police report, the suspect got out of his car and locked it as an officer approached him and smelled marijuana coming from the car’s sunroof. The young man refused to let police search the car, but a drug-sniffing dog was brought to the scene and indicated that there were drugs in the car. Police impounded the car while awaiting a search warrant and detained the suspect.

A 48-year-old man from Nevada was arrested for driving without a license after police stopped him in the 8100 block of eastbound I-90 around 2 p.m. on Aug. 14.

A 49-year-old Island resident was arrested on three outstanding warrants at a home in the 8800 block of S.E. 45th Street around 1 p.m. on Aug. 15.

A 29-year-old Island resident was arrested for trespassing on private property in the 4100 block of 97th Avenue S.E. after he was confronted by residents who caught him holding a video camera up to a bathroom window around midnight on Aug. 10.

A teenager was arrested and booked into juvenile hall for hitting his father with a baseball bat at their home 8400 block of S.E. 34th Street, the night of Aug. 9.

An 18-year-old Islander was arrested for pushing his mother out of the house and threatening to hit her with a crowbar in the 4500 block of 89th Avenue S.E. around 4 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Thefts

Landscaping was stolen from a home being remodeled on Brook Road over the weekend, sometime between the afternoons of Aug. 15 and 17.

A car was stolen from the 2500 block of 81st Avenue S.E., the night of Aug. 16.

A riding lawnmower was stolen from the carport of a home in the 7200 block of West Ridge Road sometime between Aug. 1 and 5.

A boat tied to a private dock in the 1600 block of 72nd Avenue S.E. was stolen during the night of Aug. 10.

About $11 was stolen from the tip jar of Maggie Moo’s in the Town Center around 5 p.m. on Aug. 10.

Two cell phones and two pairs of sunglasses were stolen from a car parked in an open garage in the 4400 block of Ferncroft Road, the night of Aug. 8.

Minors in possession

A group of Seattle teens were cited for possession and consumption of alcohol after a resident notified police that they were breaking empty beer bottles by throwing them on the ground in the 3800 block of 78th Avenue S.E. around 8 a.m. on Aug. 15. According to the police report, the teens — ages 19, 15 and 16 — smelled like beer and two of them had bottles on them when contacted by police.

Three Island youths were arrested after police responded to a call that they were smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol on the nature trail near Ellis Pond around 5:40 p.m. on Aug. 11.

A 20-year-old Island resident was arrested for being drunk outside a home in the 4000 block of 96th Avenue S.E. around midnight on Aug. 9 when police responded to a noise complaint.

Vandalism

Eggs and paint were used to vandalize a car in the 8000 block of S.E. 65th Street around 4 a.m. on Aug. 14.

A teenager was seen throwing a baseball through the front window of a home under construction in the 7400 block of S.E. 27th Street around 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 14.
