Island police respond to reports of theft, prowling, overdose.

Oct. 13

Theft: A 15-year-old male reported that his school-issed iPad was stolen from a table near the printers at the MIHS Library. He identified a fellow student as the only person nearby, but could not state that the student was a suspect.

Oct. 14

Collision: A 36-year-old male stated that he was leaving from trying to see his girlfriend on West Mercer Way when his front windshield fogged up. He was unable to see the road, and hit a dirk embankment, rolling his car over onto its roof. He was uninjured and able to climb out of the car.

Oct. 16

Fraud: A 63-year-old male at the 3700 block of 80th Avenue S.E. reported that someone used his wife’s information to open a Verizon cell phone account in December of 2012. He was contacted by the collection agency, which said they owed $1,700.

Fraud: A 57-year-old female at the 2800 block of 61st Avenue S.E. stated that she was notified via email of a spa appointment she didn’t make. She called to report the event, and later discovered that her credit card had been compromised the week before.

Oct. 17

Overdose: Officers responded to a domestic dispute and attempted suicide at the 3500 block of 90th Avenue S.E. An 18-year-old female had ingested 15 doses of citalopram, and was evacuated to Overlake Hospital. She was involuntarily committed due to the amount of antidepressant ingested.

Warrant arrest: Police contacted a 29-year-old male driver at a traffic stop at the 2600 block of 84th Avenue S.E. He was found to have a warrant out of Lynnwood for negligent driving. He was placed in custody and transported to King County Jail.

Prowling: A 57-year-old male reported that someone entered his unlocked car overnight and removed the Kenwood stereo, which was valued at $2,000. The car was parked in a carport, and nothing was heard during the night.

Suspicious circumstance: A 21-year-old Island woman and resident of the Mercer Manor apartments discovered that a section of the complex’s mailbox bank was open. There were no signs of forced entry, not was there apparent damage to the mailboxes. It could not be determined if the boxes were illegally accessed or if any mail had actually been stolen. The USPS postmaster was advised.

Oct. 19

Warrant arrest: A 35-year-old male was arrested at the 8600 block of North Mercer Way and turned over to the Renton Police Department.

Oct. 21

Forgery: A 90-year-old Island woman at the 4200 block of East Mercer Way reported that she lost her check book, which contained two checks. She went to Bank of America and was advised that the checks had been cashed. She did not issue the checks and they were forged for $150 each. The bank refunded the money and closed the account.
