Police blotter | Two unlocked vehicles stolen, many more cars prowled

THEFT: Four mailboxes were pried open and their content stolen in the 5000 block of 90th Ave S.E. Three of the four impacted residences were contacted, though the fourth house was empty. The replacement cost of the mailbox bank was estimated at $500.

Friday | 27

CAR PROWL: An unlocked car in the 3000 block of 69th Ave S.E. was rummaged through sometime between 11 p.m. and 8 the next morning. A CD holder and $20 were stolen.

THEFT: A 54-year-old Mercer Island man discovered that somebody had used an old credit card of his to make $12,000 in purchases. The account was cancelled and the victim later reimbursed.

CAR PROWL: An unlocked Volkswagen in the 6800 block of S.E. 30th Street with its keys left inside the car, was stolen overnight, sometime between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

CAR THEFT: $25 was stolen from an unlocked car in the 2800 block of 60th Ave S.E. A makeup purse and workout bag were also taken. Officers collected several fingerprints at the scene.

CAR PROWL: $20 and a set of keys were taken from an unlocked car in the 3700 block of 78th Ave S.E. The crime was committed sometime between 6 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.

CAR PROWL: The driver of a XC60 Volvo reported her car prowled while parking in the driveway of a residence in the 2500 block of 72nd Ave S.E. The victim left the vehicle unlocked overnight, though nothing was stolen.

CAR PROWL: Two cars parked at the top of a residence in the 2400 block of 74th Ave S.E. were prowled in the owners’ personal driveway, though nothing was taken.

CAR PROWL: Between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday, a car was prowled in the 3400 block of 72nd Pl S.E. A remote garage door opener to the victim’s workplace, $5 in change and an insurance card were all taken.

CAR PROWL: Sometime between 8 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday, an unlocked vehicle was prowled. The owner’s iPhone and makeup bag were stolen but a GPS left undisturbed. Items totaled $300 in lost property.

CAR PROWL: A BMW was ransacked, its glove box left open and paperwork scattered on a neighbor’s lawn in the 2200 block of 77th Ave S.E. The owner of the car couldn’t determine if any valuable items had been taken.

CAR THEFT: Between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. Sunday morning a locked SUV was stolen from the driveway of an Islander’s residence in the 3200 block of 72nd Ave S.E. Brand new sports equipment, and a Mercer Island High School gym bag were also inside.

BURGLARY: Between 9 p.m. on Saturday and 8:20 a.m. the next morning, an electric garage door opener was stolen from a residence in the 2400 block of 70th Ave S.E. The opener was used to open an attached garage and enter a second vehicle.

CAR PROWL: A Honda Accord was broken into sometime between 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11:20 Sunday morning. Its trunk was found ajar and items strewn about the interior. Nothing was taken.

CAR PROWL: Except for an insurance card, nothing was stolen in a car prowl that struck an unlocked car in the 3400 block of 72nd Pl S.E.
