Stolen medication: A resident in the 3700 block of 79th Avenue Southeast reported that someone stole his medication overnight.

June 4

Assault: In the 7400 block of 84th Avenue Southeast, it was reported that a juvenile male assaulted another juvenile male with the palm of his hand during a basketball scrimmage.

Vehicle prowl: In the 2000 block of 84th Avenue Southeast, a resident reported that someone broke into her vehicle and stole her purse and identification card, social security card, debit card, credit card and $100.

Traffic incident: Police attempted to stop a motorcyclist for driving without a license plate and they failed to obey in the 2100 block of West Mercer Way.

June 9

Vehicle theft: In the 9000 block of West Shorewood Drive, someone stole a vehicle with a rear Washington license plate and two new plates inside.

Traffic incident: Police attempted to stop a vehicle registered to an outstanding warrant subject and they failed to obey in the 2200 block of westbound Interstate 90.

Unauthorized tree clearing: An unauthorized tree clearing incident has been referred to the Mercer Island Police Department for investigation and potential charges, according to the city. On May 13, a certified arborist employed by the city of Mercer Island discovered Mercer Island residents removing trees in Luther Burbank Park and on adjoining private property without authorization, according to the city. The trees were removed from a protected slope area and the arborist estimated the cleared area to be approximately 2,500 square feet. “It is a clear violation of city code to remove trees or other vegetation from public property without authorization,” the city said.
