The City of Mercer Island will host a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, July 23 at 3:30 p.m. for the new solar array at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center. The ribbon cutting will be followed by an open house.

Mayor Bruce Bassett and other members of the city staff will be on hand to formally activate the first city-owned solar array on the Island.

The project, built with grant money from Puget Sound Energy and donations, features a 22-panel installation which is expected to generate around 4,468 kilowatt hours of electricity per year. It will also help produce $2,500 in income each year thanks to state energy incentives.
