Rotary Islanders for December

MIHS seniors Ben Elliott and Lauren Hsue are the Islanders of the Month for December.

The Mercer Island Rotary Club announced MIHS seniors Ben Elliott and Lauren Hsue its Islanders of the Month for December.

Elliott has served as a National Honor Society president, a varsity tennis captain and state doubles champion, a member of the Mercer Island Principal and Associate Principal Search Committees, a member of the Instructional Materials Committee and a Bridges leader. Outside of MIHS, he is the founder of String4Others, which donates the money earned from stringing rackets to local nonprofits, is a Mercer Island Youth and Family Services teen board member and is a USTA PNW website columnist.

His hobbies include engineering projects, piano and reading. The son of Elicia and Mike Elliott, he plans to study computer engineering after high school.

Hsue is involved in the Lunch Buddies Club at MIHS, is a Bridges leader, a member of Senior Service Club and a member of National Honor Society. Outside of school, Hsue has been involved with the National Charity League, Evergreen Chapter.

Her hobbies include playing soccer with the Crossfire soccer club and tutoring algebra, pre-algebra and geometry. The daughter of Ku-Yuen Hsue and Patricia Rodrigues-Hsue, she plans to pursue a career in medicine.
