Rotary swings into inaugural Pickleball Tournament fundraiser

Event will take place Aug. 22-24 at Luther Burbank Park courts.

Rotary Club of Mercer Island will swing into its inaugural Pickleball Tournament fundraiser from Aug. 22-24 at the Luther Burbank Park sports courts.

The round-robin tourney, which will highlight the park’s eight new pickleball courts, will raise funds to support youth mental health and well-being, with 25% of net proceeds going to The Scooty Fund. The Scooty Fund is a nonprofit organization started by Kasey Taylor and Tara Neilson (Mercer Island High School class of 2011) in honor of Will Taylor (Mercer Island High School class of 2013) to promote emotional awareness, education and resources for young adults.

The balance of the funds raised will be used to support cancer research, housing and food security, clean water and other meaningful causes, according to Rotary.
