The Mercer Island School District announced the appointment of Kathy Morrison as interim elementary associate principal serving the elementary schools, following approval of the Mercer Island board of directors. Aimee Batliner-Gillette, formally the associate principal, has been assigned as interim principal at West Mercer Elementary, due to the departure of Rich Mellish to the Issaquah Schools.

Morrison, who was previously retired, will be working with other Mercer Island elementary school principals David Hoffman, Andy LaBadie and Aimee Batliner-Gillette. She held several posts in Mercer Island as principal at Island Park Elementary, associate principal for all three elementary schools, associate superintendent of instructional services and director of learning services in the central office.

“Kathy brings a wealth of knowledge with her to our talented elementary team of educators and we are fortunate to have her join us again this year,” commented Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano.
