Preliminary water test results are clean
Mercer Island School District Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano recently told school board members preliminary water test results conducted within the district were clean.
“Of all of the samples that we took, none of the samples rise to any level where we need to take corrective action,” Plano said.
An outside testing firm performed random testing at each district-owned facility, including Mary Wayte Pool and the district office.
Associate principals appointed for elementary schools
Lisa Deen and Jill Ravenscraft have been appointed as associate principals at elementary schools in the Mercer Island School District, Plano announced. The School Board confirmed the appointments, which are effective July 1.
Deen will serve at Lakeridge and Island Park, and Ravenscraft at West Mercer and Northwood.
“We are delighted to welcome Lisa and Jill to Mercer Island,” Plano said. “What impressed me about both finalists was their unwavering support for students who learn differently and for their commitments to coaching and teaching our staff.”
Deen is currently an instructional coach and highly capable program manager for the Bainbridge Island School District. She previously served as associate director of special education in the Lake Washington School District and as special education director and teacher in the Port Townsend School District.
Deen received her bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University, master’s degree from Old Dominion University and administrative credential from Gonzaga University.
Ravenscraft is currently dean of students at an elementary school in the Issaquah School District, where she also served as a classroom teacher and special needs preschool teacher.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Washington, and is now finishing up her administrative credentials in the Danforth Program at the UW.
