The second Islander Aquathon of the summer is set for Aug. 31 at Luther Burbank Park.

The event, part of the Pacific Aquathon series, features a long or short course and starts at 6 p.m.

Swimmers start at the beach at Luther Burbank and swim 500 meters for the short course, followed by a 5k run around the park, or swim 1,000 meters for the long course, followed by a 10k run.

Registration and check-in for the event begins at 4:45 p.m. and the race will be finished by 8:15 p.m.
