Writing a note of thanks to a soldier this holiday season is what the “Let’s Say Thanks” campaign is all about.
Postcards for U.S. troops are available at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center (MICEC), and Islanders can write a message to men and women in the U.S. military, sign the postcards and return them to MICEC by Dec. 31. The postcards will be placed in care packages and shipped to troops stationed around the world. A collection box is located in the MICEC lobby.
The Mercer Island Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to participate. This campaign is a way for people across the country to recognize U.S. troops stationed overseas.
“Let’s Say Thanks” is supported by Give2TheTroops and the Xerox Corporation.
The Mercer Island Community and Event Center is located at 8236 S.E. 24th Street. Open hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (206) 275-7609 or go to www.letssaythanks.com.
