Recently, every Island address was mailed two postcards about the visioning process underway for Town Center. The Joint Planning and Design Commission wants to hear from all Islanders on what they want to see in their downtown area.
The 2015 Town Center Code Update is a citizen-based, multi-stakeholder visioning process tasked with helping determine the desired future look and feel for the Town Center area for the next 20 years, by setting rules for things like building heights, public spaces, retail and residential uses, and streetscapes.
The Joint Commission is meeting to recommend actual Town Center development code language and directly-related updates to the city’s Comprehensive Plan.
Learn more about the progress of the vision process so far, and submit your comments online, at www.mercergov.org/TownCenter.
Public Hearings on Town Center are scheduled from 7-9 p.m. on Jan. 20, March 9, and March 30, 2016, with a location to be determined later.
