Shoplifter arrested and charged with theft | Mercer Island police blotter

May 19

Burglary: In the 4000 block of Island Crest Way, a suspect forced entry into a building, rummaged through the structure and stole checkbooks from the office.

Musical equipment stolen: Someone shattered a vehicle window and stole musical equipment from inside in the 8500 block of Southeast 79th Place.

May 18

Burglary: In the 8200 block of Southeast 40th Street, someone broke into a home under construction and stole fixtures.

May 17

Theft: Officers apprehended and arrested a shoplifter in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast. The shoplifter was charged with theft.

May 16

Fraud: A resident in the 4000 block of 96th Avenue Southeast reported that her identity was used to order medications she didn’t purchase.

May 15

Theft: An unknown suspect was spotted swiping beauty supplies from a retail store in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast.

Fraud: A resident in the 8200 block of Southeast 30th Place reported an unlawful transfer of funds from their bank account.

May 13

Vehicle prowls: In the 3600 block of West Mercer Way, multiple vehicle prowls occurred at roughly the same time and one likely suspect was captured on a home security camera. The cases are under investigation.
