Snow report: Roads reopened; no school today

**Update: The city reports that all previously closed roads have been reopened.

Overnight snow has brought slick conditions to Mercer Island, which has a few road closures today.

As city crews are out plowing the streets, the following roads are closed:

* Gallagher Hill

* Southeast 24th Street

* Southeast 53rd Place from Island Crest Way to East Mercer Way

The Mercer Island School District released a message that all of its schools are closed today because of snow and ice accumulation on the Island. There is no district transportation and all preschool classes are canceled.

In the city realm, the Mercer Island Community and Event Center is operating on normal hours.

If possible, the city asks residents to delay their travel this morning and give crews plenty of room to work.

“If you do head out, take it slow, leave extra following distance from cars around you, allow yourself extra time to stop, and turn those headlights on (so) you can see and be seen,” the city noted.
