Suspects in Mercer Island steal golf cart, drive it into lake | Police Blotter

The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

July 16

DUI: A vehicle was stopped for lane travel violations at 1:11 a.m. in the 6000 block of westbound I-90. The driver commented that his license was suspended. He smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking one beer. He agreed to voluntary field sobriety tests, which he failed, and provided a PBT reading of 0.083. He was arrested and processed at the Mercer Island Police Department, where he provided blood alcohol samples of 0.106 and 0.109. He was released following processing.

ANOTHER DUI: A driver was stopped for an equipment violation at 3:11 a.m. in the 2200 block of W. Mercer Way. They failed field sobriety tests, providing BAC readings of 0.096 and 0.097.

TRESPASSING: A subject was trespassed from the Rite Aid on 78th Avenue Southeast at 6:51 p.m.

MISCHIEF: Unknown suspects stole an electric golf cart and drove it off a dock into the lake. The cart was recovered by the MIPD dive team, but deemed a total loss. The incident was reported at 11:45 a.m. in the 8300 block of Avalon Drive.

July 18

MORE MISCHIEF: MIPD responded to a report that an unknown person had destroyed two signs at the recycling center owned by the city of Mercer Island at 4:01 p.m.

FRAUD: A subject in the 8900 block of SE 45th St. said at 5:54 p.m. that their personal information was used to open an AT&T account and attempted to open a Target credit card.

July 19

THEFT: Two A-frame signs were stolen in the 3000 block of 78th Ave. SE between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. The signs were three feet by two feet and read “Mobile Chiropractic and Massage.”

MORE THEFT: A victim in the 4300 block of W. Mercer Way reported a mail theft of a prescription refill at 1:51 p.m.

FRAUD: A victim in the 8900 block of SE 58th St. said at 4:48 p.m. that a credit card was opened in their name. The bank canceled the card, and there was no financial loss.

THEFT: A victim in the 8400 block of N. Mercer Way reported that his personal watercraft lift was stolen from his dock at 2:19 p.m.

July 21

PROWLING: A vehicle was prowled overnight in the 9000 block of SE 45th St. The vehicle registration and an insurance card were stolen.

BURGLARY: A burglary was reported at a construction site in the 2200 block of 74th Ave. SE at 10:55 a.m. An air nail gun, hydraulic impact tool and drill were stolen.

FRAUD: A victim in the 8400 block of 85th Ave. SE said at 11:56 a.m. that he received an email asking him to change his online banking password. He entered his information, and $3,300 was immediately withdrawn from his account.

July 22

PROWLING: A vehicle was reported prowled at 9:21 a.m. in the 2400 block of 63rd Ave. SE. The victim was unsure if anything had been stolen.
