The Islanders blanked Ballard, 9-0, on Sept. 30 despite missing the team’s No. 2 singles player.

Islander Matt Ellis dominated his Ballard opponent in No. 1 singles with a straight sets victory 6-0, 6-2. No. 2 player Max Franklin shut out his opponent in straight sets, while Glen Kelton won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3.

Islanders Eddie Jiranek (6-1, 6-0), Andrew Smith (6-0, 6-0) and Matt Stofsky (6-1, 6-0) all won in straight sets to sweep the singles action.

With inclement weather threatening the meet, the doubles play was cut to single sets.

Ellis and Colin Ramsay teamed up to win 8-0. Erik Snyder and Craig Deininger, 8-0, and Kelton and David Peck, 8-2, completed the sweep.

MI beats Inglemoor

The Islander boys tennis team beat Inglemoor 8-1 on Thursday without its top three players.

No. 1 singles fell to the Islanders’ Jordan Smith on Thursday as he defeated Inglemoor’s No. 1 singles player 6-1, 6-1.

Kelton won at No. 2 6-2, 6-2, Andrew Smith won 6-0, 6-2, Snyder won 6-3, 7-5 and Ramsay won 6-2, 5-7, 6-0 to round out the singles play.

The Islanders won two of three doubles matches during the meet.
