Kudos and thank you to the men and women of the Mercer Island Maintenance Department.
My wife and I woke up to a loud crashing sound early on the morning of May 5 (isn’t it supposed to be spring?) and found that a tree had fallen across our street and into the bottom of our driveway. I immediately called the Mercer Island Maintenance Department to report the tree blocking the road. I assumed that the city would remove whatever debris was blocking the road and leave the rest for me to clean up. I was not looking forward to returning home to clean up the mess, particularly since I had surgery just two weeks earlier. But when I returned home later that afternoon, there was not a trace of the tree remaining. Not a speck. And the folks from the city who came and cleaned up the debris from the tree were not aware of my temporary physical limitations.
I consider myself extremely lucky to have lived and worked on Mercer Island for the last 31 years. This is not the first time I have been the recipient of the services provided by city of Mercer Island employees, and I can only say again, “Thank you” for a job well done.
