Fall Book Sale

The annual MI Library Fall Book Sale has arrived: Oct. 19-21 in the library’s large meeting room. More than 10,000 books and media are for sale from 4:45-8 p.m., Friday, members only; memberships are available at the door, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday. The half price sale is 12-3 p.m., Sunday; and $1 a bag, 3-5 p.m. Proceeds will benefit library programs. Call (206) 236-3537 for more information. Please consider volunteering for the Fall Book Sale, Oct. 18-21. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. To sign up for a single day or the whole event, go to www.kcls.org.

Car Wash

The MIHS wind ensemble and jazz ensemble are heading to China for a 10-day performing tour in March 2008. The musicians are holding a car wash at Auto Spa in downtown Mercer Island from 9 a.m. until noon, this Sunday, Oct. 21, to raise money for the trip.

Wear your best Halloween garb and trick-or-treat during the Mercer Island Community Art Walk between 5 and 8:30 p.m., Oct. 18 in the Town Center. Activities begin with the Holiday Art Show grand reception at the Community Center at Mercer View and continue on through Town Center businesses with live music, treats and more. Unique glass art available for purchase will benefit Mercer Island Youth and Family Services. Look for the orange balloons.

Laughs for Lunch

Don’t forget to reserve your spot for the Chamber of Commerce special membership luncheon at 11:45 a.m., Oct. 22 at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church at 3605 Island Crest Way to see and hear comedian and actor, Joel McHale.
