Trees to plant

Join Mountains to Sound Greenway volunteers this fall as they plant over 15,000 native trees and shrubs to enhance natural areas in our region. On Saturday, Nov. 22, there will be a tree planting on the Mercerdale Hillside from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in partnership with the Mercer Island Parks and Recreation Forest Stewardship Program. Individuals, families, groups and work teams are welcome. No experience is required to volunteer. Visit www.mtsgreenway.org, e-mail volunteer@mtsgreenway.org or call (206) 812-0122.

Calling all Seattle Marathoners

A shout out to Islanders who are registered for the Seattle Marathon: the Reporter wants to hear from you. If you are in a group, let us know the particulars. Do you train together? Where, when and how? How many of these (crazy) races have you done before? Let us know if you are planning to have a photographer who can capture a photo for the Reporter to run on Dec. 3. E-mail us at rmar@mi-reporter.com.
