The Mercer Island girls basketball team won its third-straight game Monday, Jan. 13, beating Interlake 48-33 at Mercer Island High School. The win improved the Islanders to 5-2 in the KingCo Conference and 7-5 overall. The game was a make-up from the Dec. 20 snow closure.
The Islanders pounced on the Saints early, leading 13-4 after the first quarter and then taking a 21-10 lead into halftime. After a dead-even third quarter, Mercer Island ran away with an 18-point fourth quarter. Jess Blakeslee led the Islanders in scoring with 13 points and Taylor Krause had 10. Suri Johnson had 7 and Latrevian Saunders contributed 6 points for Mercer Island.
Next up, the Islanders take on Sammamish at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Sammamish High School.
