The Mercer Island Thrift Shop will host an open house this month about the proposed expansion of the store.
The meeting will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Thrift Shop and will include a brief presentation.
City staff is hoping to gather input on the proposed remodel changes to the current Thrift Shop building. The remodeling goals include: reducing constricted traffic flow on S.E. 34th Street, increasing parking for people using the park and Thrift Shop customers, while also reducing street congestion, creating a separate donation drop-off zone, improving the storefront appearance and increasing revenues that help fund MIYFS counseling services.
Anyone with questions can contact MIYFS Director Cindy Goodwin at cindy.goodwin@mercergov.org.
