The fall exhibition game between Maryland, which finished second in the U.S. last season, against Denver, is the first NCAA lacrosse game to be played in Washington.

Both teams come to Starfire with local players, as former Curtis High School midfielder Landon Carr is a senior at Maryland and Bellevue High graduate Cole Nordstom plays with Denver.

Maryland has won the NCAA national title twice, and made 10 straight trips to the NCAA tournament. Head coach John Tillman has led the team for three years.

Denver is coached by Bill Tierney, taking over in 2009 after holding the top spot at Princeton since 1988.
