Voters Forum thank you

Forums don’t just happen--they take a lot of hard work and coordination by many people.

The Mercer Island League of Women Voters  would like to thank the City Council and School Board candidates for attending the voters’ forum held October 8, and thank KUOW’s Bill Radke for serving as moderator. The League is a strong believer in educating voters on issues and candidates and feels that such forums provide a service, giving an opportunity for candidates to express their views as well as Mercer Islanders to ask questions of their candidates.

These forums don’t just happen–they take a lot of hard work and coordination by many people. Although not cited in last week’s Reporter article, this year’s forum was co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Mercer Island Reporter.

The League would also like to thank the Mercer Island School District for its generosity in making available the Middle School library for this event, and especially Roger Curtis for his invaluable help setting up.

Finally, the League would like to thank so many people for taking interest in our local government and attending. Working together is part of what makes Mercer Island the special community it is.

Amanda Clark,

The Mercer Island League of Women Voters
