Most of all, she loved her children, Allison and Meredith, her grandchildren, Nicholas and Jackson, and her beloved dog, Jack. Sherley had a twinkle in her eye and touched those around her with her positive, good natured, generous, and creative spirit. Sherley is survived by her daughters, Allison Childers and Meredith Wetherell, and her grandchildren Nicholas and Jackson Childers.

In lieu of flowers, Sherley’s family asks that you consider making a contribution to Shine On Whidbey. Donations will go toward restoring “Sherley’s Barn” where a memory plaque with donor’s names and loving quotes will go up in her honor. The restoration of Sherley’s Barn will be the first project in developing a farm sanctuary program that will bring people and animals together as a way of cultivating meaningful and purposeful lifelong learning opportunities as well as promoting connection and compassion. It will serve children and young adults on the autism spectrum and with other special needs. Current animals at Shine On Whidbey include a herd of 7 rescued goats and their guardian llama. If you would like to donate, please send an email to meredithwetherell@gmail.com and she will respond with a document showing pictures of the barn and information needed in order to make a donation.

Sherley’s family is planning a celebration of life in mid to late September. It will take place on Whidbey Island in Washington state.
