James Leon Frost

Age 96 – Mercer Island, Washington

Jim passed away on April 26, 2024. He was the only child of Leon and Elsie Frost of Battle Creek, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Marianne Keohane Frost (93).

He is survived by children Mark (Nancy), Taffy (Jim Harmon) and Jack along with grandchildren Patrick and wife Shelby, Holly and husband Bryant (Mark), Taylor, Colten (Taffy) and Christina (Jack).

Born January 11, 1928 in Port Huron, Michigan, Jim grew up in Battle Creek before graduating from the University of New Mexico in 1951. He was a member of the UNM golf team reaching the NCAA tournament in 1949, 50 & 51.

He met wife Marianne at the University. They were married on June 8, 1951.

He had a long successful career with the Clark Equipment Company moving from Michigan to California to Louisiana and Washington. He retired as the Owner and President of Clarklift of Washington.

Jim was well known as one of the top amateur golfers in the Northwest and elsewhere. He won over 20 Club Championships at 4 Country Clubs (10 at Broadmoor) and held 4 course records at one time including a 61 at Yakima (WA) Country Club. He first shot his age at age 65 and did so every year until he was 89. During his career he won numerous tournaments while being a member of the Society of Seniors Amateur organization, traveling all over the country. In addition, he represented the United States in the Senior Amateur Tri-Country Matches against Canada and England, traveling among the three countries each year.

In life he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and mentor to his children and grandchildren imparting wisdom and advice they continue to use to this day.

There will be a private memorial service with his surviving family.
