Joan Eileen Arnold (Yunker)
April 18, 1932 – September 11, 2025
With faith and peace in her heart, Joan Eileen Arnold entered eternal rest on September 11, 2025, in Issaquah Washington surrounded that day by her loving children.
Born and raised in Fauntleroy, West Seattle, Joan grew up alongside her brother Robert, nurtured by her devoted parents, Joseph and Eileen, and her beloved grandmother Kathryne by whom she was affectionally known by all as “Honey.”
She attended Holy Family Grade school, West Seattle High School, and later earned her degree in Psychology from Seattle University while working her way through college.
Joan began a long and fulfilling career with The Boeing Company as an Executive Secretary, where she eventually met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Arnold. They were married in the Mary Chapel of Saint James Cathedral and went on to share a beautiful marriage rooted in faith, family, and love. Together they welcomed 3 children – Kim, Kathy, and Robert Jr. – and built a home on Mercer Island where they were faithful parishioners of Saint Monica’s Catholic Church.
In addition to raising her family, Joan shared her time and talents as a volunteer officer with the Washington Arboretum society for many years. Her love of gardening, especially roses, was a lifelong joy, and she delighted in blessing others with bouquets for special occasions or simply as an expression of love.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob and her brother Robert. She is survived by her three children: Kim Feeney (Tim), Kathy Best (Jeb), and Rob Arnold (Christy); eight grandchildren: Megan Amaya (Kyle), Erin Feeney, Courtney and Carly Best, and Nicholas, Christopher, Ryan and Jacob Arnold; three great grandchildren: Remi and Lola Amaya and Tristan Feeney; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan lived her life with grace, devotion, and a heart full of love. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with Bob in God’s eternal embrace.
“And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”
-Ecclesiastes 12:7
