Julie M. Mandt

Julie Marie Mandt, a resident of Mercer Island for 41 years, died on Sept. 27, 2009, in Bellevue. She was born on May 5, 1937, in Aberdeen, Wash., to John and Josephine Lennihan. She attended Holy Names High School and later attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis.

Julie married Orville Glenn Mandt on Dec. 27, 1958, at St. Edwards Church in Seattle. They moved to Mercer Island in 1968.

Mrs. Mandt was involved in many of her children’s activities when they were growing up. She later joined the Women’s Service League and remained active at St. Monica’s Catholic Church. She loved creative projects, including Tole Painting, quilting and gardening. She also enjoyed antiquing and photography.

Her family remembers her as a beautiful, passionate woman with an amazing smile, and a loving, caring wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Orville Glenn Mandt, of Mercer Island, and their sons: Timothy Glenn Mandt, Sean Lawrence Mandt, Brian Thomas Mandt and Mathew Orville Mandt. Also surviving are her two grandchildren: Alicia Madison Mandt and Dylan Benjamin Mandt; sisters, Patricia Zevnick, Jo Rounds, and her brother, John Lennihan. She was preceded in death by her sister, Theresa Sitas.
