Otto Ernest Baumgarten, died April 21, 2011. Mr. Baumgarten was featured on the cover of the December 23, 2009 issue of the Reporter. He was born in Vienna, Austria on April 15, 1922. After fleeing his homeland when Hitler was in power, he settled in Palestine, then Israel, before immigrating to the United States.

He owned a successful appliance repair business in Seattle until 1998. Mr. Baumgarten married Florence Lear in 1958, and had two sons, David and Steven. In 1984, he married Ronnie Woog. The family lived on Mercer Island for 17 years.
