Patricia McCassey Mazure passed away at the age of 88 surrounded by family earlier this month.

Patricia was born in 1931 in Great Falls, Montana to Mae and Joseph McCassey. She was raised in Syracuse, New York along with her older sisters, Lillian and May and her older brother, Douglas. She graduated from LeMoyne College with a masters in Social Work.

Pat met the love of her life, James Mazure, while living in New York City and married in 1955. Together, they lived in England while he was in the Navy, Champaign, Illinois while he was in Law School, Maryland, Washington DC, Tokyo, Japan and finally Mercer Island, Washington. They raised 4 children- Kathleen Mazure, Mary Smersh, James Mazure (Jessika) and Patrick Mazure. She was extremely proud of her 15 grandchildren, Colleen Mazure, Annie and Ryan Mazure-Schmidt, Megan, Kelsey, Brenna and Jillian Smersh, Quinn, Max, Winston and Kennedy Mazure, Jack, Kylie, Joey and Molly Mazure. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

No matter where Pat lived, she made opportunities to use her business savvy and good instincts. She did everything from having her own TV show, teaching school, marriage counseling, being a tour guide in the Far East, and writing for a magazine to working with interior designers and real estate investing. She was fearless and confident and never gave up. She volunteered in the community no matter where she lived. Always active, she loved to tap dance, sing, play the piano, harmonica and ukulele.

She was a proud Irish Catholic, first generation. She valued her faith and a good education which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be truly missed.

A funeral mass will be said at 11am on Friday, January 17th at St. Monica Church on Mercer Island. The family suggests remembrances to Catholic Community Services. For more details go to
