Regina Schreel McMeekin

Regina Schreel McMeekin passed away April 30, 2012. She was born in Greenville, Ohio, April 8, 1912, the youngest of three sisters. After completing high school in Greenville, she went on the graduate from Ohio State University in 1936 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and where she met her husband, William Glenn McMeekin II. She was married in 1936 in Worthington, Ohio. The family moved from their home in Worthington, Ohio in 1952. They settled on Mercer Island where Regina’s three children graduated from Mercer Island High School and continued on to graduate from the University of Washington. Regina was widowed in 1972. She undertook her first jobs then, working in gift shops on Mercer Island, including James Crosby’s, for the next 11 years. Regina was active in her sorority and in the Women’s University Club, in which she was an officer for several years. After her working career, she divided her time between her daughter Ann, in Olympia, WA and her daughter Marilyn in Kailua, HI.Regina is survived by two of her three children: Marilyn Bauer (Glenn) and Bill McMeekin (Carol). Daughter Ann Saunders (Herb) is predeceased. She is also survived by five grand children, Gretchen Swanson (Greg), Heather O’Meara (Pete), Ross McMeekin (Jess), Lindsey McMeekin, and Matt Bauer: and also by four great-grand children, Reland Tuomi, and Annie, Caroline, and Sean O’Meara.Regina will be remembered for her cheerful, optimistic attitude, her kindness and thoughtfulness of others, and her love of family and life.
