April 14, 1936 – April 11, 2025

With heavy hearts we share that Rita Marie Schaab passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025. Born April 14, 1936, to George and Sibyl Thornton, Rita was raised in Tacoma, WA and graduated from Aquinas High School. She attended Seattle University where she met her future husband Gary J. Schaab. Rita then got accepted to St. Joseph’s Hospital School for X-Ray Technicians preparing for her career as a Radiologic Technologist.

In 1957, Rita married Gary and they enjoyed nearly fifty years together before Gary’s passing in 2006.

A loving, caring and devoted Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, Rita treasured every opportunity to be with family and friends.

Rita loved gardening, traveling, music and playing bridge and tennis.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, 7-18-25 at 11 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church 4311 88th Ave SE, Mercer Island with a reception to follow.
