Robert Wagner Stevenson | Obituary

May 4, 1939 – May 24, 2023

Robert was born on May 4, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Dormont High School, attended the University of Pittsburgh, and received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University. He later received his MBA from Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

On May 18, 1962, Robert married Diane Richards in Grayland, Washington. After a brief residence in New York, Robert and Diane moved to the Seattle area to begin his career with Boeing. They would make their home in Mercer Island. He went on to work for Heath Tecna and later as Chief Financial Officer of Esterline Technologies in Bellevue, where he retired in 2000.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and loved horses. He owned both racing and show horses and most weekends he could often be found at the racetrack or watching his children show their horses. Robert was an avid philanthropist. Robert volunteered for the Board of Directors for the Greater Seattle YMCA and Prosthetics Outreach Foundation. He was an active member of the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church and handled the church’s finances for many years.

Preceded in death by his parents Thomas J. and Helen (Wagner) Stevenson and his wife Diane. He is survived by survived by two sons: Robert W. (Christy) Stevenson of Port Angels and Todd (Linda) Stevenson of Mercer Island, WA; two daughters: Cynthia Stevenson Klemperer of Bellevue, Wa and Kandace (Robert) Zimmerman of North Bend, WA; a brother, Thomas Jefferson Stevenson, Jr of Pittsburgh, PA and a sister Betty Jane Stevenson of Santa Monica, CA; Grandchildren: Ashley Stevenson, Elizabeth Stevenson, Robert W. Stevenson III, Janelle Stevenson, Annika Klemperer, Kyan Zimmerman and Aspen Zimmerman.

The burial took place at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen, WA next to his wife Diane. Arrangements were entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA
