Thorbjorg Fimreite Aarnes

Thorbjorg (Tobbie or Tutta) Aarnes, longtime resident of Mercer Island, died Monday, June 22, 2015.

Born December 17, 1927 in Bergen, Norway, Tobbie moved to the United States in the early 1950’s with her husband, Magne Aarnes. Earning her Master’s Degree in Education, she worked as a teacher throughout her career. Her husband, Magne, was an engineer for The Boeing Company. They purchased a home on Mercer Island in the early 1960’s and she remained in her home until recent years.

Tobbie is survived by her niece and nephew of Norway as well as her great niece, three great nephews, and many friends.

A memorial service to celebrate her life was held on Monday, July 6, at 11am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 8501 SE 40th St. Mercer Island, WA with a reception at her house immediately following the service.
