Jane Meyer-Brahm’s Oct. 12 Reporter letter states she was “dismayed” over a quote I used from her book, “Mercer Island History, From haunted wilderness to coveted community.”
Indeed, in my Oct. 5 Reporter letter, I cited quotes, information and the positive slant on Mercerdale Park found on page 138 of her book. Every word on that page was written by Meyer-Brahm, not me. I took nothing out of context from that page, nor does Meyer-Brahm claim I did.
Meyer-Brahm’s book was published in 2013. Certainly, there was sufficient time for her to include on page 138 information on a proposed cultural arts center anchored in Mercerdale Park, not on the edge of it. She did not do so. Meyer-Brahm states I used her nonfiction history and specifically page 138 to “bolster an opinion ….” Mine is not an opinion, it is a fact. Mercerdale Park cannot choose a different Island setting, a cultural arts center can.
