The Mercer Island boys basketball team jumped out to an early lead to beat the Lakes Lancers, 48-32, at the King Showcase on Jan. 20 at the ShoWare Center in Kent. Senior guards Adam Parker and Nigel Seda both scored 17 points to lead the Islanders to the nonleague victory. At press time, the Islanders have won five straight games and remained undefeated in league play.
