Islanders finish first at state swim meet

The Mercer Island boys swim and dive team won the 3A state swim title on Feb. 22 at the King County Aquatic Center.

The Islanders also finished first at the 3A Sea-King District 2 Championships on Feb. 15 at Mary Wayte Pool.

The Islanders beat out Bainbridge, 274-224. The top swimmers for Mercer Island included Kieran Watson (first in the 500 free and third in the 200 individual medley), Dan Gao (second in the 200 free and third in the 200 fly), Jake Headrick (second in the 500 free and third in the 200 free), Collin Ralston (second in the 100 breast and fourth in the 200 individual medley), Ethan Schwartz (fourth in both the 100 free and 100 back), Joe Torky (fourth in the 200 free) and Emmett Ralston (fourth in the 100 breast). In the diving competition, Gabe Neale finished fourth with a finals score of 380.25.
